O-O Nc6 Be3 Qc7 Smyslov plays a well-known move that puts pressure on the c4 pawn and prepares to bring the rooks to the d-file. Rc1 Rd8 f4 e6 Smyslov reinforces his control over the d5 square and prepares to advance his pawn majority on the queenside. Kh1 b6 f5 Na5 

This move seems aggressive but doesn't achieve much, and White can easily defend the f4 pawn. Bd3 exf5 exf5 Bb7 Qd2 Re8 Smyslov creates a threat against the f2 pawn and offers a trade of rooks. Ng3 Qc6 Rf2 Rad8 Smyslov's pieces are very active, and he is ready to initiate an attack on the kingside. Bh6 Bh8 Qf4 Rd7 Geller tries to counterattack, but Smyslov calmly defends his position. Ne4 c4 Smyslov makes an inaccurate move that weakens his pawn structure on the queenside. Bc2 Rde7 Smyslov is forced to defend the e6 pawn, which allows Geller to create a strong passed pawn on the queenside. Rcf1 Rxe4 fxg6 f6 Qg5 Qd7 Smyslov creates a mating threat against Geller's king, but it is easily defensible. Kg1 Bg7 Rxf6 Rg4 gxh7+ Kh8 Bxg7+ Qxg7 Qxg4 1-0 In the end, Geller's strong passed pawn on the queenside and his pieces' coordinated attack were too much for Smyslov to handle, and Geller won the game.
